5 Conversation Applications Other Than WhatsApp That Can Be An Choice

A few days ago the WhatsApp application went down and became a trending topic on social media. The difficulty of accessing WhatsApp is suspected to be a problem with the data center, so that for the time being we cannot use the application.

Because of that incident, of course we were annoyed. Because, an important message that we were supposed to send, failed and we couldn't contact anyone through the application.

To anticipate something similar, it's better if we look at other conversation applications as an alternative. The following is a list of chat applications other than WhatsApp that can be your choice for exchanging messages. Anything?

1. Signal

If you are used to using WhatsApp, Signal is a suitable application as an alternative choice for exchanging messages. This is because the application that was created in 2014 has the same appearance as WhatsApp. Signal also has an end-to-end encrypted service similar to WhatsApp.

Billionaire Elon Musk even said that Signal is the most secure application in the world because when registering, this application does not ask for personal data of its users.

2. Telegram

When WhatsApp made a privacy policy update, many people mistakenly thought that all of their messages would be read by WhatsApp. As a result, many people have moved and downloaded Telegram.

The application that uses end-to-end encryption is also free to use. They also claim to be safer than WhatsApp because it uses the MTProto protocol.

In some countries, their governments do not recommend their citizens to use this messaging service because of its excellent security. Even Russia has blocked all Telegram access.

In Indonesia itself, the government through the Ministry of Communication and Information has blocked Telegram regarding issues of radicalism and terrorism. However, now access to Telegram in Indonesia has been re-opened and can be used like a conversation application in general.

3. Viber

Another secure app is Viber. This application claims that with end-to-end encryption on its security system it can protect its users from hackers.

In addition, this application ensures that each user has an individual cryptography associated with their device. In other words, you can get an extra layer of security.

Another interesting feature of this app is the hidden chat. Namely, you can hide certain chats or groups from the main screen.

4. Threema

Then there is Threema which is considered very safe compared to WhatsApp. This messaging app encrypts all data, including messages, shared files and even status updates.

The app also doesn't collect metadata and offers a variety of encrypted backup options. The drawback is that this application does not have voice and video calling features. And, to use it you have to spend or it's not free.

5. Line

Line is a very complete application. Here, you can not only make calls and send messages, but you can also post a status accompanied by a picture or video, to read the latest news.

In addition, the Line application is also equipped with cute stickers that can add to the fun when sending messages. You can also change the look using a theme that suits your personality.

That was the list of conversation applications that you can use besides WhatsApp. So, if WhatsApp is down like yesterday, you can still exchange messages through other applications.
